About The Event

It can be hard to get over the activation barrier to take political action, especially when addressing a problem as daunting as climate change. Led by experts in Climate Change communication, advocacy, and grassroots organizing, this workshop will provide students with the motivation and tools to overcome this inertia and become effective advocates for government policies to fight Climate Change at the state and national level. Since we believe that active participation is more empowering than passive listening, participants will engage in hands-on practical activities including writing letters to CT senators and representatives and engaging in mock conversations with citizens across the political spectrum, guided by findings from the Yale Program for Climate Change Communication. Our facilitators will be Eric Fine from the YPCCC, and Sam Daley Harris, author of Reclaiming our Democracy. Participants will also have the chance to meet with local environmental organizations. Also, FREE DINNER (Thai food) and BEER!
